Educa board is sturdy and the pieces lock together with no wobble: you probably know that already if you want to buy Educa puzzles. The real question is a different one. The brand makes puzzles for two year olds and for people who spend an entire winter with 5000 pieces on the dining table, and the ranges in between have little in common.
At Loja dos Puzzles it is the brand with the most titles, so it pays to understand how the range is organised.
Buying Educa puzzles: what's inside the box
Educa, founded in 1918, makes its puzzles in Spain. The board is thick and the cut is clean, which matters when a puzzle gets broken up and redone several times (more common than you would think, especially in homes with children, or with cats who like to sleep on the table).
Then there is the glue. Many Educa adult puzzles come with Fix Puzzle glue in the box, so you can fix the finished puzzle and frame it. It is included, for example, in the 2026 releases such as Dreamy Santorini, but not in every older title. Each product page says when the glue is included, so check there before ordering if it matters to you.
On the bigger formats, some product pages also mention Educa's own lost piece service. In a 3000 piece puzzle, one piece that slips under the sofa leaves a hole in the finished picture, and it helps to know you can ask for a replacement.
Educa ranges, one by one
Classic adult puzzles, 500 to 2000 pieces
This is the bulk of the catalogue: landscape photographs, cities, illustrations packed with detail, collages. If you are coming back to puzzles after years away, a 500 like The Kiss (48 x 34 cm) takes just a few evenings.
Experienced puzzlers go straight to 1000 pieces, which with Educa finish at 68 x 48 cm (the Miniature series is the exception). That number matters more than it seems. It fits on a normal dining table with room around it for the unsorted pieces.
One step up is the 1500 piece Political World Map, at 85 x 60 cm. On a political map, the country colours and the blue of the oceans help you sort pieces from the start, and if you have school age children around it always turns into a geography lesson.
Miniature: 1000 pieces in 46 x 30 cm
Educa calls this series the smallest 1000 piece puzzle in the world. The finished puzzle is only slightly bigger than an A3 sheet.
The pieces are tiny. You need good light and patience, and some people use tweezers. In return, the finished puzzle fits in a small frame or on a bookshelf. The Starry Night in Miniature and the Sistine Chapel in Miniature are both rated expert level on the product page, and rightly so. We wrote in more detail about whether Educa Miniature puzzles are worth it if you are still on the fence.
Neon Fluo, for when the lights go off
The colours on these puzzles glow in the dark after being exposed to light. It sounds like a gimmick until you switch off the living room light with the finished puzzle on the table.
Las Vegas Neon Fluo is the obvious one, with the city signs lighting up. Solar System Neon Fluo appeals to teenagers and anyone into astronomy. By day they are ordinary 1000 piece puzzles, and the glow lasts a few minutes after the light goes off.
The giants: 3000, 4000 and 5000 pieces
Burano, Italy has 3000 pieces and finishes at 120 x 85 cm. It is a photograph of the island's houses where every facade has its own colour, so it comes together in a more orderly way than the piece count suggests. The Best Bookshop in the World goes up to 5000 pieces and 157 x 107 cm.
Before you order one of these, measure your table. Seriously.
Educa for children
Educa's children's puzzles are organised by age, and the step between formats is gradual. Baby Puzzles, from age 2, have a few very thick pieces. Progressive sets put four puzzles of increasing difficulty in one box: the Forest Progressive Puzzles go from 12 to 25 pieces and are recommended from age 3.
The 2 in 1 sets (2x20, 2x48, 2x100) have two pictures in the same box, which is handy with two siblings or when the first puzzle gets finished too fast. The Lion King 2x48 is recommended from age 4. There are wooden puzzles too, such as Mickey & Friends in Wood (2x25 pieces, from age 3), which stand up better to small hands and long car rides.
Between ages 8 and 12, the 300 piece Junior puzzles, like The Class Photo, bridge the gap to adult puzzles. All of the brand's children's puzzles are in the Educa puzzles for children collection.
Finished sizes of Educa puzzles
Educa is consistent with its sizes, which makes it easier to choose the table, mat or frame before the puzzle arrives. These are the sizes listed on the product pages of the puzzles we stock:
- 500 pieces: 48 x 34 cm
- 1000 pieces: 68 x 48 cm
- 1000 piece Miniature: 46 x 30 cm
