Why December is puzzle month

There is a simple reason why puzzles sell more at Christmas than at any other time of year: it is the only month when the whole family is at home, with time on their hands, around the same table. A Christmas puzzle brings together three things that rarely coincide: a screen-free activity, an image that matches the holiday decorations and a project with a beginning, a middle and an end that fits into the two weeks of the holidays.

This year, the Clementoni Christmas Collection arrives refreshed and in a compact box that is easier to store and gift-wrap. Here we have gathered the eight puzzles from the 2026 collection, organized to help you choose, and you can see them all in the Christmas Puzzles 2026 collection.

Choose by how much time you have

One evening: 500 pieces

The 500-piece puzzles (49 x 36 cm) can be completed in an afternoon or an evening, alone or with a partner. They are the right choice for anyone who wants to finish before Christmas dinner and for anyone who has never assembled an adult puzzle. The 2026 collection has four: Old Toy Shop, featuring an old-fashioned toy store on a snowy night; Train Station with Snowman, with a steam train and snowmen at the North Pole station; Midnight Sleigh Ride, with Santa Claus taking off under a full moon, in portrait format; and Christmas Magic Moments, a snowy village square with a choir and a lit-up tree.

A week of holidays: 1000 pieces

The 1000-piece puzzles (70 x 50 cm) are the classic adult puzzle format and last for several sessions over the holidays. Christmas by the Fire shows a living room with a roaring fireplace, a tree, and a dog and a cat fast asleep, in portrait format. Ye Old Christmas Shoppe takes us inside an old Christmas shop full of nutcrackers, teddy bears and a gingerbread house.

A serious project: 1500 pieces or Impossible

For experienced puzzlers, Have a Cozy Christmas is the largest in the collection, with 1500 pieces and 84.5 x 59.5 cm: a complete Christmas living room with a fireplace, hanging stockings and animals on the sofa. And for those who like to suffer in style, Impossible Jolly Christmas is a collage of vintage ornaments with no focal point, where every piece looks the same. We explain how to beat it in our guide to Impossible puzzles.

Choose by the image

Indoor scenes, like Christmas by the Fire and Have a Cozy Christmas, have warm colors and many distinct areas, which makes them comfortable to assemble. Nighttime outdoor scenes, like Midnight Sleigh Ride and Old Toy Shop, have dark skies that require more attention to piece shapes. Village and station scenes, with lots of people and objects, are the most fun to assemble as a group, because everyone can take an area.

Choose by the person

For parents and grandparents, the indoor 1000-piece puzzles are a safe bet. For a teenager who has never done a puzzle, a 500-piece one with a train or Santa Claus. For the friend who brags about finishing everything in two days, the Impossible. And for the whole family, the 1500-piece puzzle, which takes over the dining table from Christmas Eve until New Year's. If the gift is for a child, check out our Christmas gifts for kids first.

Tips for assembling as a family

Start with the edges and divide the color areas among people: one takes the tree, another the fireplace, another the snow. Use the poster included in the box as a map. A puzzle mat lets you store your progress between sessions without taking anything apart. When you are done, glue and frame it: a Christmas puzzle assembled as a family goes on the wall every December and is worth more than any store-bought decoration.

Do Clementoni Christmas puzzles include a poster?

Yes, the entire 2026 Christmas Collection includes a poster with the complete image, which serves as a guide while assembling.

What is the recommended age?

These are puzzles for adults and young people ages 12 and up. For younger children, there are Christmas puzzles with fewer pieces in the kids' collection.

When should I order to receive it before Christmas?

We ship from Portugal with real stock. In December, we recommend ordering by mid-month to guarantee delivery before the 24th.

All the puzzles in this guide are available in the Christmas Gifts 2026 collection, ready to wrap.
